Family Reunion Fintry Park, British Columbia

Manor house - photo from www.fintry.ca
Over the long September weekend, we had the great privilege of spending time with relatives in the beautiful Okanagan valley at Fintry Park. The group campground was fantastic, the staff friendly and courteous, and the facilities clean and well kept. We had perfect weather - lots of sun and although it seemed fairly dry, we were able to have a fire in the evening to keep off the evening chills.

The entire park is centered around an early 20th century estate farming operation. The history of the area is fascinating and the buildings and irrigation systems were impressive for the period of time that it was developed.

Hiking to Fintry Falls
We hiked the 400 steps to the top of the falls on Shorts Creek and toured the historic farm buildings and the manor house. The story of Captain James Cameron Dun-Waters was well-told by the tour guides and interpretive signs throughout the park.

If you are ever camping in this area, or want to plan a group gathering, this is an awesome place to be! (And only a short drive to Kelowna or Vernon for wine touring or fruit stands!)
