Repeat Customers

Repeat customers are the best! This customer is great to work with and pushes me gently out of my comfort zone to make quilts for her family. The first quilt is a baby quilt in teal blue and tangerine orange with a square in a square pattern.

And this one is a twin in oranges with smaller blue squares. We wondered if so much orange would make this look a little Halloween-wish, but it looks just great for a modern boy's room.

Baby quilts are always fun to make and this one was for a baby girl nursery decorated in a jungle theme. If you click on the photo, you can see the detail close up and the prints I chose. The dark brown one looks pretty dark in the photo, but is a great Heather Ross (I think) print of pink butterflies on a brown background.

I hope there will be a few more quilts to be made for this customer! It's such a satisfying feeling to know someone likes your work enough to come back and get one (or two or three) more quilts!

Pink & Red Twin Quilt

A simple 9-patch quilt block has been the basis for many of my baby quilts, but this is the first one I've made larger into a twin size quilt. First choice was the pretty retro looking red floral used in the border.

Then a selection of pink and red fabrics that were the same shades as in the border fabric. I cut a selection of 2.5" squares from the pinks and reds and a bunch from white Kona cotton and pieced my 9-patches.

Next step is putting them up on the design wall and making sure that I didn't get too many of the same fabrics bunched together. 6.5" white Kona cotton squares were added as alternate blocks, blocks were sewn into rows, rows together into the centre of the quilt.

A plain white border was added and then the cute red & pink floral. Marie from Blueberry Hill Quilts did the quilting and added the name of the quilt's recipient into the white border. We've done that for a few twin quilts - a nice subtle way to personalize a quilt.

Quick & easy peasy!

Blue, Blue, this Quilt is Blue!

I've been working over the past month collecting blue fabrics and now piecing them together for a custom quilt order for a Texas customer. She has ordered two twin quilts complete with pillow shams for her son's room.

Just a few blocks done
I love these shades of blue - they make me think about sailing on the ocean! I have one quilt top done today and the other will be done tomorrow and then they are off to Marie of Blueberry Hill Quilts to be quilted!

Magic Tiles Quilt

Sometimes, I just want to go back and remake a quilt I've done before and this is one of those times. I had a bundle of muted green and...
